Santee Club records, 1901-1969.

Records consist of seven bound volumes. The entries in each volume contain dates, hunting locales, names of hunters, weather conditions, and type of game shot. Volume 1 (1901-1909) is entirely handwritten. The remaining volumes including volume 2 (1909-1914) which contains the broadside "Record of the Currituck Shooting Club from 1888 to 1910," volume 3 (1914-1923), volume 4 (1923-1930), volume 5 (1930-1941), volume 6 (1941-1960), and volume 7 (1960-1969) contain printed forms with handwritten entries.

Organized in 1898, the purpose of the Santee Club was to acquire tracts of land to use and maintain as a private preserve for hunting, fishing, yachting, health, rest, and recreation. The club bought twelve former rice plantations (amounting to 20,000 acres) in the Santee Delta.
